On the east coast of China, with the Bohai Sea to the north and the Yellow Sea to the south sits the province of Shandong. It was there that we found this striking altar table. At over 80 years old, it boasts a beautiful timeworn texture that will continue to patina beautifully over time. Tables such as this were used as altars in the family homes of Shandong as a place to worship ancestors. Each has been enriched by decades of use and love; some even have incense burns on their surface from the many household ceremonies held to honour those lost.
